You're different.
So much more different.
Eaten
by the world around you,
you turn a deaf ear to your surroundings.
Where did You go?

four eyes you had,
a thousand hearts you gave,
four cards you made,
will you make it all fade?

I've tried but     you're not the same.
there's barely anything I can
do,
except watch you
change
change
change.

you've changed,
i wish
you didn't.

It was
14.11.08
now 4 days after my day,
you beamed when walking abreast,
the wall torn down,
my heart is at rest.

life is good, I am blessed, I have persevered in prayer, I've kept faithful, God is good, everything's in place, I'm joyful. It's true what the Psalmist declared in Psalms 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all." God's constant and consistent character even in the midst of this hectic world, He provides for us, for me.

Glad to say I've come out of this period of searching and praying much stronger in faith. AT times when I seeked, I don't hear Him at all. But really, why did God leave me to face such difficult times and to search Him all on my own? Why was it so hard to pray fervently and yet hearing no answer? Why? God wants us to come out stronger from all these tests, tests of how much you place your faith in God. And yup simply put we learn from these times of brokenness, when all you felt was like kneeling at the foot of the cross. A spark contrast to a time when you felt as if you were on top of mountains praising and worshipping the Almighty One.

Hmm while typing this post, a verse has been at the tip of my tongue, I've figured it out and may it bless you if you're facing a period of searching for God and his character. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit.  Apart from me you can do nothing" - John 15:5

If you remain in Him, He remains in you.

The whole of today went down the drain. All because I had an interview in the morning with Mr Lui about the HK trip and I thought I could kill time on my own till 2pm when training at MacRitchie Reservoir starts. Timeline of today-

10.30 - 11.30am - Headed to Tanglin CC where I thought I could kill time till 2pm, I was wrong, I left right after my plate of fried rice and popsicle.
11.30 - 11.45am - Bus ride to Far East
11.45 - 12pm - Walked to Orchard MRT to top up my Ezlink card, thought this could help kill somemore time
12.00 - 12.30pm - Bus 190 back to SJI and stoned for 20 mins for the 2nd 156 bus to Bishan
12.30 - 12.45pm - Alighted one stop after J8 to walk back and waste more time, headed for Bishan Library
12.45 - 1.30pm -  Browsed poetry section and borrowed a book
1.30 - 1.45pm - Bus 156 back to MacRitchie, boarded the bus with BISHAN GAY
1.45 - 2.30pm - Stoned with Jude at carpark of Mac, only to find out from Coach Fok training was at 3.30pm
2.30 - 3.30pm - FIFA08 on Zuhair's PSP

Secondary Two, seven nominees, one winner, one trophy, who will outprefect, outCCA, outpercentage the others? This.. is THE JUNIOR JOSEPHIAN. Only one, the all-rounder will win.

okay sounds like the start of every survivor episode, congrats to bryan lum for winning it. For me, I'm just happy to be nominated, like what Mr Chua said, it already speaks volumes of my abilities. Thought I could have done better throughout the year, made a greater impression and really ignite the school community and my peers. But oh well, things happen. Still, enjoyed events such as Hair for Hope when I shaved my head, bryan lum must shave next year. I endured those training sessions with coach Zhendar, leaving each session all drenched. Even though not peaking at Nationals, I gave it my all for my indi events, perfected my starts, hugged the curve, won a bronze with the relay team.

So thankful for Mr Alvin Chua and Ms Fauziah for their efforts in teaching and nurturing the class. Always emphasising on class participation rather than success. They were fun and outgoing, they taught us when it was right to laugh, have fun, and other times to get serious and focus on our studies. For me, they kept faith in me by entrusting me the duty of class chairman once again. 205 was a fun class, many stories, many troubles, but the class sticked together during such times. Shakthi for all the jokes, for being such a matured and understanding friend, dealing with the pride and ego of others, bravely he stood up for me. Yibo for sticking with me even when I failed to perform on finals of SJI TNF. Isa, a loving friend, he teaches others without expectation, yet when others score higher than he does, he stays humbled.

205 has been a great class, 2008 has been a year of experimentations of feelings emotions in schoollife, relationships with others, a year of intense learning, of intense fun too. So much running puking soccer laughs books isa mr chua ms fauziah mr kenneth khoo mr chang history geog literature F1 205 olympics AHHH im gonna miss this class

Such gamesmanship and showmanship this afternoon at the knockout stages of the hand table tennis competition. Russia looked strong going into the quarter finals beating Ethiopia, Italy and Japan in the round robin. There in the quarters they met Germany- their all-time rivals. Opponents Jonathan Chuang and Jude looked strong. Clearing their past matches in straight sets. However, the Russian duo of Nevin and Shak proved too strong for them. Jude putting up a strong fight against Nevin, nonetheless Russia went on to win in straight sets- road to the Semis.

There in the semis, the Russian team faced Spain. The first few balls played clearly showed the Spanish had no chance of overcoming the Russians. Nevin and Shakthi went on to beat them 11-5, 11-6, securing a spot in the finals. There, they met their strongest opponent- Daniel Ng of the United States of America. He looked sharp and clearly in-form. He was first kicked out in the Round Robin stages due to being unable to show up for his match (Mother Tongue lesson). A surprise entry, Ng of USA had defeated another favourite, Huang Yibo of China in the Quarter-finals. He proved too strong in the semis.

It was an intriguing final, shown 'Live' on Brian Lee's phone. With Nevin and Shakthi the top 2 seeds so far, they were expected to win their singles matches. However, Daniel upset both of the Russians in the first 2 games of the final. The 3rd one was the doubles. The teamwork of the Russian team proved too strong for their opponents- Russia was back in this. The last 2 deciding sets. There we go, Nevin assuring he fought back with the 4th and it was all down to the very last set. Shakthi's killer serves won half the points for him. He maintained his lead. Shakthi had won it for Russia.

The opening ceremony of the 205 Olympics this afternoon was mesmerising. Turned off the lights, switched on the OHP and it set the spotlight for our announcer and host, Brian Lee (cheers). Nevin took ownership of Team Russia, so did Shakthi. The athletes been training too hard for this once-in-a-lifetime sporting event. Our Russian team were the favs to bring back the Gold in the prestigious 'Table Tennis by Hands not paddles' event. So far Nevin has defeated 3 opponents- the Italians, Spanish and Brazilians, becoming the 1st seed so far in the tournament. He looks to be in tremendous form. The Russian team looks set to win the Gold too, in the team event held this Thursday.

Pre-events: Shakthi has won the Gold in the Men's Weightlifting, lifting Jonathan Chua of 40 something kilograms. Nevin finished comfortably in second spot with the silver medal, with his personal best of Brian Lee of 30 something kilograms. Well done Team Russia. Nevin has also won the Gold in the Men's 'Badminton with Paper Ball' event, beating Shakthi in straight sets. Shakthi succumbed to defeat after making numerous defensive mistakes on his own half.

The competition looks set to intensify as the days pass, all nations will be aiming for the coveted Gold medal, which 205 member Brian Lee states of, "It's gonna be made of cardboard and pen markings"

Phelps wins record-breaking gold medal No. 8

BEIJING - Three men and a new legend.

If Michael Phelps was going to swim past Mark Spitz into a spot in history, he couldn't do it alone on Sunday morning, and he did it with some help to reach the pinnacle, winning his eighth gold medal, the most at a single Olympics.

Spitz's record of seven gold medals in an Olympics had stood since 1972.

Phelps and medley relay teammates Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Jason Lezak, who again was the anchor leg, set the world record in 3 minutes 29.34 seconds. Of Phelps' eight gold medals, seven have come in world-record times.

Australia was second and Japan took third in the 400 medley relay.

You have to venture outside the sport to find accurate comparisons to what Phelps' accomplishments.

U.S. men's assistant coach Gregg Troy, also the coach of Phelps' closest rival in the world, Ryan Lochte, gave it a shot the other day.

"There is no comparison in the swimming world to what Michael's done," Troy said. "It would be like playing seven games of a football season and never ever being behind, completing every pass."

The 200 butterfly, in which Phelps' goggles filled with water could have been an incompletion … but turned into another ogld medal.

"Even then, he still breaks the world record," Troy said. "It's a far more competitive world than it was at any other time in the past. It's unprecedented."

oh oh and what a 100m final it was last night

Reuben Morgan, Parachute Band, Pastor Mark Conner and the sharing of His word, a filled crowd at the Indoor Stadium equals to a marvellous worship session on the last day of the inaugural Festival of Praise. I was glad to be there with John, the others either had something else on or were at Singfest haha. It was fun 'cause we took a cab down to Kallang McDonalds, had our burgers and fries take-away, and strolled all the way to the Indoor Stadium. We didn't know what to expect- first time at the event for the both of us.

Entered the venue, ushers were very generous when they got us seats near the side of the stage. Everytime you go for an event with big names leading worship, you kind of wonder how they would do it. Reuben played the Hillsong favourites and it brought back memories of United concert earlier this year. Parachute Band's lead vocalist was amazing too. They did a really wonderful piece on "Glorified". And right there, God manifested His Spirit in His people, I was touched too. It had to be the 'song for the day', even though Reuben's band had played favs like Tell the World, One Way and Mighty to Save.

Preaching shared by Pastor Connor was powerful and alive. Pastor Connor is the Pastor of one of the biggest churches back in Australia. The thing to take home was that, we should all concentrate on things that are of value for eternity. (Ask me!) Guess Reuben and him would be on the same flight back or something. And when you turn up for such events, expect people to lift up their hands in worship, go on their knees, bow their heads in prayer, broken in the presence of the Lord. For what Samuel said countless times to me, seek God and not the experience. The worship was impactful for me, because I believed I searched God.

Alright I'm bringing you there next year.

"Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand is to make great, and to give strength unto all" (1 Chronicles 29:11-12)

God's glory is the outshining of His attributes. God is not like any other; His attributes set Him apart from all others. His glory must be acknowledged.
